Camp Edward Isaacs -Building World Jewish Community
Every summer, Camp Edward Isaacs provides a wonderful opportunity for
children to experience the richness of world Jewry, as counselors and
campers from throughout the world join together in an inspirational camp
community. From Argentina to New Zealand, England to Eilat ...we share
our common Jewish values, heritage, observance and love of Israel; we
converse in English and Hebrew; we learn about our different songs, food,
and cultures.....and live, learn and play together.
The Central Queens YM&YWHA and Camp Edward Isaacs enjoys a UJA-Federation
Israel Partnership 2000
linkage with the Greater Baka Community Center in Jerusalem. Every summer,
children from Jerusalem attend Camp Edward Isaacs and share in a wonderful
voyage of Jewish discovery, developing deep relationships with their American
peers and enhancing our mutual understanding of Israel, American Jewish
life, and our shared Jewish identity.
While at Camp Edward Isaacs, campers develop an appreciation for the
beauty of their Jewish heritage and experience magical memories that will
strengthen their Jewish identity.
Camp Edward Isaacs uses a soft approach to help campers discover and
enjoy their Judaism. Through the fun and excitement that each camp day
brings, we intertwine a creative Jewish component into the many different
areas of the program. Whether through arts, nature, Shabbat, or social action/mitzvah programming, our campers feel proud of their Jewish heritage. We have a lot of great spirit at Eddie I!
Campers participate in the customs and preparation of holiday celebrations,
experience life cycle programs and get creative with mezuzah making. They
enjoy the pre-shabbat planning, creative Friday night and Saturday morning
services and are moved by our outdoor lakeside havdallah services.
Campers will discover that their Judaism is a fun and exciting part of
them as they develop a love and appreciation for who they are as people
and as Jews.
